Train to Teach
It is a key national priority that Teaching School Alliances should play a greater role in all aspects of initial teacher training (ITT). Teaching School Alliances are engaging with partner schools and accredited providers to develop new strategies to attract high quality trainees and set them on a journey to becoming an outstanding teacher.
The new School Direct route creates some exciting opportunities for schools to shape the future of ITT and to support the development of teachers from their first point of entry into the profession.
MKLA have secured a significant number of trainee places through School Direct. This process has created strong collaborative links between schools, often across phases and types of schools, and new relationships between schools and accredited ITT providers, both HEIs and School Centred Initial Teacher Training providers (SCITT).
At MKLA we want to harness the positive impact that engaging with trainee teachers can have on school improvement. We are developing a range of training pathways, creating opportunities for career progression for Teaching Assistants, promoting teaching to 6th formers and graduates, as well as encouraging career-changers to enter the profession.
