Talent Management and Succession Planning
The Internship Programme has been developed by the Kent and Medway Teaching School Alliances as part of a project aimed at supporting the development of middle and senior school leaders. The project includes a framework, peer evaluation processes, a programme of internship supported by coaching and a mapping of leadership development opportunities across the region.
This collaborative initiative has been motivated by a commitment to supporting school leaders to plan for their own leadership and career development. In a rapidly-changing environment in which collaboration between schools is critical to school improvement, leaders need a wide range of skills to equip them to be the 'architects' of a school-led system. This framework is a tool for use by leaders wishing to undertake a structured reflection on their current skills as a first step towards identifying areas of competency that they wish to further develop. It might be used individually, in performance management conversations or across teams and groups of leaders.
