Name: Caroline Hambley
School: Invicta Grammar School
Position Held: Senior Lead Practitioner of Teaching & Learning; Lead Teacher of Art & Photography
SLE Specialism: Departmental Leadership, action planning to raise teaching & learning and developing coaching skills.
What are your current responsibilities?
Leading a team of Lead Practitioners in providing strategic support and coaching to develop departmental leadership, and teaching and learning at Invicta Grammar School.
Why have you chosen to become an SLE?
I am keen to share good practice in order to support and develop leadership skills of colleagues across the South East. I am interested in providing and setting up environments where colleagues are enabled to identify their own areas for development and to collaborate with them in finding effective solutions in their journey towards excellence.
What are your areas of expertise? How might you be able to help the schools?
I have been involved in raising the profile of teaching and learning for a number of years within my own school and have a proven track record of innovation and improvement. I lead an outstanding department which has doubled in size with regards to student recruitment for our examination classes and in staffing levels since taking over the lead.
I successfully completed an MA Educational Studies (Distinction) with Canterbury Christ Church University where I specialised in creativity within the curriculum and educational theory. Having a deeper understanding of pedagogical theory has enabled me to work very effectively with colleagues in order to effect school improvement.
Before training to teach, I worked for 12 years within a management role of a number of large London creative agencies where part of my role was to optimise team performance.
My main areas of expertise are:
• Departmental Leadership
• Planning and effecting positive change
• Developing coaching skills
