Claire Wilcox

Name:  Claire Wilcox

School: Bower Grove School

Position Held: Science Curriculum leader

SLE Specialism: Pupil achievement and Curriculum in Science

What are your current responsibilities?
• Curriculum management for Science KS1-KS4
• Teaching science to KS3 and KS4
• Shared mentoring of NQT

Why have you chosen to become an SLE?
I have chosen to become an SLE because I believe that collaboration between schools and sharing good practice enables all students to access teaching of the highest quality and have the best learning opportunities.
Working as an SLE will not only give me the opportunity to share what I have learned with others, but also contribute to my continued professional development. I can then bring this back into my own school and share good practise with my colleagues.

What are your areas of expertise?  How might you be able to help the schools?

I have experience of working in both mainstream and special education with students that have a range of diagnoses including Autism and ADHD.
I have completely overhauled the curriculum in my current school making it fit the needs of the students and provide them with appropriate qualifications for their onward educational journey.

I would like to offer help with:
• Curriculum development
• Pupil achievement
• Science leadership
